Well, if that fisherman just happened to mess up and not hit the guy, he would have revealed himself and could just go the balcony and plot to kill him with the business guy and they both stfu instead?
or wait for him to commit suicide and kill the owner and make it seem like they fought and one fell and the other got injured during that?
plus if they didn't hit that bird they wouldn't have guessed it

The art style they use for this looks very weird to me like the proportions of the face is just off... A lot of other episodes had it too

Lmao Kogoro was actually pretty smart this episode. That hint was extremely vague.

Good filler. I wish we get to see more of Kogorou like this. As the other commenter said, the problem with Kogorou is that he doesn't try to gather information like Conan. It can't be helped that he's not as observant and quick at deducing things at that age like Conan. What impresses me about these two is how knowledgeable they are. Normal people would never have figured that it was possible to reach that far with fishing rod much less kill a person with it.

Mori is actually a smart detective if only he do what conan does in every crime he encounters and it's finding or looking for clues. as you can see I don't see him searching for clues even from the start we meet him in this anime. only conan do it and as you can see in this episode conan give him a hint by playing those toys and that gives him the clues needed for the crime and he successfully solved it like just like a Detective's Job. so Thumbs up for Mori-san!
